Sport & Performance

Our Melbourne podiatrists have a keen interest in sport. We participate in it ourselves, and we enjoy treating the injuries that may evolve from it.  We treat everyone from the casual runner through to the elite athlete. Our involvement with local sports clubs, Oxfam and the snow industry means we are continually extending our knowledge and increasing our experience.

Common sporting injuries may include

  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Ankle sprain
  • Shin splints
  • Knee pain
  • Stress fracture

Following appropriate orthotic and footwear advice is of utmost importance in the treatment of sporting injuries.

We work closely with other relevant practitioners such as your GP, orthopedic surgeon, physiotherapist, coaches to ensure the best treatment possible.

With winter approaching nows a great time to get some orthotics made and have your expert ski boot fitter fit them. Here’s a recent article featuring one of our leading podiatrists discussing the perfect fitting ski boots. Click here to read more.

Here’s an extract discussing footbeds Vs orthotics.

Sports Orthotics are for everyday dynamic movement like walking and running. Footbeds are support in your ski boots for static movement. Orthotics are generally used in the ski boot if the client skies infrequently, they are a growing child and the orthotic fits and is comfortable; or they need more support than a custom footbed can give them. For someone who skis a lot and the footbeds provide the appropriate support than a footbed can still be used even if you wear orthotics in day to day life. I for one, have worn orthotics for over 20 years, but prefer my footbeds in my ski boots, why? Because it works best for me!

Skiers and Snow Boarders, follow us on Facebook at Skifeet to learn more about foot beds and orthotics that can be used in your boots.
